($543.76 will cover standard vet care: 2 spays, 2 microchips, 2 rabies vaccinations, 2 sets of kitten boosters, initial exam on eyes at Town N Country). This goal does not include any possible complications with their eyes that will require special vet visits, or the cost of food/litter and medications for their foster home.
They went to our partner vet, Town 'N' Country Animal Hospital in Burlington last week for an assessment on their eyes. Their vet visit last week was $113.66 and the bill was paid at checkout. Today, they went to Banfield for their first kitten boosters and SNAP tests (both were negative for FIV/Felv). Today's bill was $142.26 and we paid the bill at checkout. They were found as stray kittens and rescued by Rachel & Judy in Burlington, NC.
Total general vet care expenses for these two girls is going to be $543.76. That does not take into consideration the eye drops they will need nor unexpected emergencies that might occur if complications arise with their eyes, and cost of food/litter to supply to their foster. They are available for adoption and Sparkle Cat Rescue will work with adopter in the future to raise money necessary for their eye surgery needs IF surgery would indeed be required.
The girls have entropion (acquired) and Eyelid Agenesis. They will not have to have their good eye removed surgically and will both have partial vision. Town N Country Animal Hospital examined them and said their eyes may never need treatment but will likely require either long-term moisturizing drops (to some degree) on the severely affected eye and/or cryosurgery or eyelid surgery to repair the abnormal position of their eyelashes. However, these treatments should not be performed until either kitty is more mature (6+ months) or being affected.
