Each and every cat we rescue is placed in a loving foster home where they receive the much needed medical care, lots of love and socialization to help prepare them for the future forever homes.

No longer forgotten, they are each leaving a paw print on our hearts.

Picture
KIKI - now Mr. Behr Adopted October 2014! Mr. Behr is quite spoiled in his forever home! We get regular updates!
Picture
LANDIN ('Landy') was among one of our first adoptions when Sparkle Cat Rescue formed in the fall of 2014. He and his new daddy love each other!
Picture
BLUE came into our program as soon as we formed in October 2014 and he attended one of our first adoption fairs in October and was adopted shortly thereafter! He is doing great in his forever home!
Picture
ABBIE was adopted in October 2014. She had been found in the parking lot of a large retail business in Burlington NC and no rescues were able to take her in. When Sparkle Cat Rescue formed, we took her into the program and at our very first adoption fair she garnered interest and was adopted shortly thereafter.

Picture
ROMEO and his brother Orange were rescued in October 2014 after their caretaker/feeder was moving out of state and the only option would have been for them to go to the shelter, with no other rescues able to help them. We took them in and at our first adoption fair it was love at first sight for Romeo's mama. We stay in touch with her and he is doing great!
Picture
ORANGE (now Jasper) and his brother Romeo were rescued in October 2014 after their caretaker/feeder moved out of state. Before she left she tried to get other rescues to take them in, with no luck. Fortunately Sparkle Cat Rescue had formed and we offered to take them in after all other efforts had failed to find them placement. They did great in foster care. Considering they had lived their entire 7 month lives outside we were very surprised at how fast they adapted and how glad they were to be inside! Orange was adopted in October 2014 after he was neutered and he is loving his family!
Picture
ARIEL - adopted October 2014 Ariel came to us after she was found abandoned at a local restaurant establishment in Burlington when she was only about 6-7 weeks old. She was such a precocious little girl and immediately drew the attention of her adopters. We've kept in touch with them and she has grown into such a beautiful girl!
Picture
LACY was rescued in November 2014 after being born and living in the woods. Her sister Macy was rescued a month later. LACY excelled in her foster home and found her forever family in January 2015.

Picture
BELLA was rescued back in the fall of 2014, after wandering up to a home in Mebane. She was microchipped and we found her owners and they released her to us so we could find her a proper indoor home where she wouldn't continue to want to escape. She was adopted on New Year's Eve 2014 and is thriving in her forever home! She entertains her new parents daily!
Picture
GINGERSNAP and his brother Butterscotch came to us via Feral Cat Assistance Program (FCAP) in Greensboro NC after a large colony in Sedalia had been trapped for TNR (trap-neuter-return). Too young and too adorable and sweet to be returned back to the feral colony, we took him and his brother in. Gingersnap was adopted in February 2014 and his brother was adopted 4/7/15 to the same home. Reunited feels so good!
Picture
ANA was rescued late in 2014 after our volunteer (new homeowners at the time) moved into their new home. This sweet girl has turned out to be ready for indoor living.
Picture
RALPHIE and his brother joined Sparkle Cat Rescue in late November 2014. Unfortunately two days after rescue, Ralphie's brother passed away due to unknown illness. Ralphie was the bigger of the two and we think due to them being abandoned outside they may have gone without food and brother's organs simply shut down. Ralphie found an amazing forever home and his new best friend is a dog!
Picture
ROCKI was a former HSAC kitty and when Sparkle Cat Rescue formed, we requested he be transferred to our program since co-founders were his original fosters and had him since he was 7 weeks old. Rocki was adopted by his fosters. He is a little guy that has some health issues and we wanted to ensure he would be well taken care of. He is such a sweet boy.

Picture
GARFIELD came into our program in late 2014 and he was adopted in February. He had a rough start to life after being found abandoned at a homeowner's garage but he proved to be the purrfect kitty and now has a forever home!
Picture
MIMI Adopted February 2015! Mimi (formerly Bandit) came to us via FCAP (Feral Cat Assistance Program) in Greensboro. She was too young and too sweet to return back to a feral colony after a number of them were trapped and taken in for spay/neuter day. She was adopted fairly quickly after coming into our program, in February 2015! We have kept in touch with her mama and Mimi has also stayed with her former foster parents two times since being adopted.
Picture
PEPE was rescued with another kitty, Gray Girl, by our foster volunteer/vet tech at Mebane Vet and she joined our program early this year. She finally found her forever home with her foster mom's family in February!
Picture
GRAY GIRL was adopted in February 2015. She came to us through her foster mama, a vet tech at Mebane Pet Clinic. Foster mom contacted us after she found Gray Girl and another kitty, Pepe (who her family later adopted) and we took these kitties in our program. Gray Girl has a new brother and new mom and dad after being adopted! We keep in touch and are so happy for this girl!

Picture
DOLL was rescued in early January by one of our volunteers and fostered with her siblings Babe and Leana. Adopted with her brother to the same home in February!
Picture
BABE was rescued in early January by one of our volunteers and fostered with his siblings, Leana and Doll and adopted to the same home in February. Leana was adopted April 5, 2015 to another home.
Picture
We cannot say enough about SPARKS. Rescued in December and coming to our attention that he had been found taped up in a box, thrown in a dumpster, left to die a slow death of suffocation. Sparks thrived in his foster home and his new mama fell in love with him the moment she met him! He is happy and healthy with his new family getting lots of love!
Picture
SISSY was originally an HSAC kitty, being an owner surrender in 2013. Co-founders of Sparkle Cat Rescue were her fosters from the time she was surrendered and asked that she be transferred to SCR when we formed. Well, we decided to adopt her and make it official in 2015, after she has become so comfortable in our home and we can't imaging her having to go through another year to get used to another home.
Picture
TINSEL was rescued in November 2014, after we learned she had been under a house for a couple of days keeping a homeowner awake. We went out with a trap in hand but that was not necessary. This girl walked right up to us. Within a week she was in heat so we really had a close call there and this girl sure didn't have no time for kitties! She was adopted in February and is thriving in her forever home with her sisters and brothers! Her new name is Miesha.
Picture
AUGUSTINA Adopted February 2015 Augustina came to us when she was only 9 weeks old. She had been spayed at an early age due to no other rescues being able to take her in and thinking she would have to be released back to where she came from. That didn't happen thanks to Sparkle Cat Rescue forming! Augustina's brother was rescued months later and both she and he are in the same forever home!
Picture
SEBASTIAN was rescued at the beginning of 2015, rescued finally from the same colony his sister Augustina came from in the fall of 2014. He was thought to be a she because of being a tortie, only to discover at spay surgery that it was in fact a 'he'! A very rare male tortie, he did amazing in foster care and his new mama fell in love with him when she heard about him. He and his sister Augustina were adopted together in early March 2015.
Picture
ROSE was adopted by her foster family in March 2015. She was found on their porch in December 2015 and asked us if we could take her in because they didn't think they'd be able to keep her. After she was released to us they realized they were madly in love with her and wanted her as their own so we let them do a trial to be sure she would work out as a forever. Her human daddy says she helps keep him company and human mama spoils her rotten.
Picture
LEANA (new name Lilly) was adopted on 4/5/15. Her new family adores her! Leana and her siblings (Babe and Doll-adopted together to another home) were rescued from a homeless colony in early 2015.
Picture
BUTTERSCOTCH and his brother Gingersnap, rescued from a large colony in Sedalia, NC. We were contacted by our friends at FCAP (Feral Cat Assistance Program) to see if we could take these boys into our program. Butterscotch was adopted on 4/7/15 into the same home as his brother Gingersnap!
Picture
MUNCHKIN was rescued by one of our supporters and we had this girl on our waiting list for a while and when room came up we were able to take her in. She is incredibly sweet and we don't know why she hasn't been adopted yet. She was found up a tree, malnourished in October 2014. UPDATE: adopted 4/11/2015!
Picture
LUNA was rescued from a local restaurant establishment in Burlington NC and she was immediately taken to FCAP (Feral Cat Assistance Program) in Greensboro for their spay day. She is excelling in foster care and so happy to be inside where the food and love flow freely. UPDATE: Adopted 4/21/2015!

Picture
ROBIN and his brother Batman were rescued from a homeless colony in the summer of 2014. When Sparkle Cat Rescue formed, they entered our program. Robin is a very handsome playful boy. UPDATE: Adopted April 2015!
Picture

Picture
PK (Pink Collar Kitty) While one of our volunteers was trapping for TNR efforts in February 2015, this sweet girl was trapped and found to have a malfunctioning breakaway collar around her neck and under her arm, requiring surgical removal and rehabilitation. UPDATE: Adopted April 2015!
Picture
WAYLON came via our friends at Happy Chance's Animal Friends. UPDATE: Adopted May 24, 2015!
Picture
EMMIE is a very sweet girl, rescued in the fall of 2014 and in foster care ever since. One of our first kitties in the program when Sparkle Cat Rescue formed. She was adopted in May 2015 with her buddy Zeus and another kitty from another foster home, Noah!
Picture
NOAH was found homeless outside an office building in February 2015. We were called to rescue him with an ice storm predicted, and he was begging to get into the office. He was a very easy rescue, went right into the carrier. He slept most of his first two weeks in foster care. Noah found his wonderful forever home with other Sparkle alums, Emmie & Zeus, in May 2015!

Picture
ZEUS was rescued in early March by one of our volunteers. He was adopted along with Emmie and Noah to the same home in May 2015!
Picture
GEORGIA was rescued after she was found abandoned in Burlington and no owner located. She found her forever home with her awesome foster family on June 22, 2015!
Picture
NEVI's human mama was no longer able to take care of her due to illness and wanted to ensure this sweet girl found a great home! We did just that and sweet NEVI was adopted in May 2015!

Patiently waiting for our forever homes!

Picture
BATMAN and his brother Robin were trapped as part of TNR efforts and found to be very sweet and young enough to socialize. As of April 2015 they have been in foster care almost a year.
Picture
BINX was rescued in April 2015 after he and his 3 siblings were orphaned when their mama was hit by a car and killed. He and his siblings had to have around the clock bottle feeding as they were only a week old. Binx and his sister Settie are the only surviving babies form the litter as their two siblings passed away within weeks of rescue.
Picture
BUDDY Rescued November 2014 after owner passed away Still waiting for adoption as of 4/2015
Picture
CHARLIE (formerly Charlotte) was brought to us in March after we learned that he and his siblings were being trapped by animal control and taken to the shelter (outside of Alamance County). Another rescue group outside of Alamance County stepped in and took in his siblings as well as one other kitty that had been trapped. Unfortunately about 16 kitties were trapped by that animal control and we do not know their fate. Charlie is a shy boy but is coming around and plays well with other kitties. He is still adoptable as of April 2015.

Picture
CUTIE was rescued after her daddy became too ill to take care of her and apartment manager threatening to send her to the shelter. She is a dramatic girl, doesn't like other cats to get in her space. After a year in foster care as of April 2015, she is still waiting to be adopted.
Picture
HAN SOLO was born on April 4, 2015 after his mama gave birth to him and his three siblings (Luke, Leia, and Obi). Mama had a spay appointment but gave birth before she could get to the appointment. As of June 23, 2015 Han is ready for adoption! He is a sweet boy!
Picture
HAVAH and her brother Spence were rescued in 2014 and have been in foster care ever since. Sparkle Cat Rescue was formed in the fall of 2014 and they were taken into our program. She and her brother are expected to have surgery for luxating patellas, to help them live painfree lives.
Picture
INGRID and her daughter Isabella were trapped and taken to FCAP in late February. Ingrid had other kittens that had disappeared and it was feared if she returned to where she and Isabella were at, their lives would be in danger. We gladly took them in and as of April 2015 we are still working on socializing.
Picture
ISABELLA and her mama Ingrid came into our program via our friends at FCAP in February 2015. As of April 2015 we are still working on people skills with sweet Isabella.
Picture
JAKE was rescued in early 2015 after living in a colony since he was a kitten. A year ago there were no options for kitties like Jake. Now that Sparkle Cat Rescue is formed, we were able to help him get used to the indoor living and work on socializing to be adopted.
Picture
JOSEPHINE came to us via Mebane Vet after she was found homeless and taken to be spayed and vetted. She is a precious little girl, soft fluffy hair and a cute round face. As of April 2015 she is still waiting to be adopted.
Picture
KITTY SOFT PAWS joined Sparkle Cat Rescue in February. Her foster family found her abandoned down a dirt road, malnourished and also declawed, unable to defend herself against predators. She is doing beautifully in her foster home with other animals and children.
Picture
LEIA was born on April 7, 2015 after his mama gave birth to him and his three siblings (Luke, Han Solo and Obi). Mama had a spay appointment but gave birth before she could get to the appointment. As of June 23, 2015 Han is ready for adoption! He is a sweet boy!

Their 3 siblings did not survive but Liza and Tess did and with the help of Sparkle Cat Rescue they have become very healthy little girls after several trips to the vet for coccidian. They are sweet as can be and we don't expect it will be long before they are adopted!
Picture

Picture

She and her siblings had to have around the clock bottle feeding as they were only a week old. Settie and brother Binx are the only surviving babies form the litter as their two siblings passed away within weeks of rescue.
Picture
SHADOW. I am brother to Tucker. We were rescued the middle of March from the same yard of the home where our boy Buddy came from. We were left homeless when our human mama passed away last year. Picture
Suzi's Gang! Born May 7, 2015 - four boys and one girl! All boys are pretty identical and so hard to tell apart! Mama Suzi was rescued after being found homeless at a local apartment complex, wandering around a dumpster. She was too far along in her pregnancy and since she was safe inside and no chance of homeless kittens, we allowed her to give birth to her babies rather than spay her late-term.

Picture
TESS and her sister Liza were found in a truck's wheel well along with 3 other siblings in May 2015. Their 3 siblings did not survive but Liza and Tess did and with the help of Sparkle Cat Rescue they have become very healthy little girls after several trips to the vet for coccidian. They are sweet as can be and we don't expect it will be long before they are adopted!

TIGER and his mama Taffy's human mama had to board them and we were notified that she was terminally ill. Our volunteer Kristi met their human mama and assured her they would be taken care of and in good hands. Their human mama passed away in March 2015.

TUCKER and his brother (to be named) were rescued in mid March. They had been homeless since their former human mama passed away last year (Buddy's mama) and there had been attempts to catch them and finally success and we were contacted for assistance. Tucker had an injured right front leg and had to have it amputated at the end of March. He is healing quickly and we are working on socializing as of April 7, 2015.

Our Sweet Angels - Gone But Never Forgotten

OLIVER and his brother Ralphie were rescued in November 2014. They were found abandoned in the yard of a home in Gibsonville. Unfortunately, Oliver was too weak and sick to survive more than a day after his rescue and we made the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep. We suspect his organs were shutting down due to lack of food at the time he was abandoned. His brother Ralphie was the bigger of the two and he survived and was adopted in January 2015.

MAMA SPARKLES had given birth to ten litters in her lifetime. We hoped she would pull through and be able to find a forever home that would give her the love she had missed out on (although she most likely got lots of love from the babies she birthed). This sweet girl had a lot of complications and health issues from all the litters she'd had over the years and was in a great deal of pain. We made a heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep in January 2015, a few days after her rescue.

ANTOINETTE was rescued in December 2014 and combo tested positive for Feline Leukemia. We tried in vain to find her a forever home where she could live like a normal kitty and play to her heart's content. She received lots of love in her foster home during her time with Sparkle Cat Rescue. Given the description of Antoinette upon arrival to the vet, they wanted to do an x ray. She also registered a temp, and her labored breathing did not go unnoticed. The x ray showed fluid around her heart, indicative of FIP. We could have anesthetized her, drained some of the fluid to make her comfortable, send some off for testing, then put her on this and that, hoping it was something other than FIP. If she weren't FeLV+, we would have said YES, let's go the extra mile to ensure it isn't FIP, and see if she can recover. However…being FeLV+, we feared she would be put through invasive treatments only to arrive at the same inevitable outcome: she's suffering and won't get better. On a positive note, Antoinette was just beginning to fail and clearly suffer. She was originally found alone in sub-freezing temperatures, starving, and very, very, sick. The vetting began with her rescuer, and continued as she was brought onboard by SCR. She recovered to enjoy an extended 4 months of life, in a cozy space, endless amounts of yummy food, and getting lots of love, as well as the ability to give love-she was quite the love-bug. It was evident today at MVH how she touched everyone’s heart.

KRISTOFF was rescued by one of our volunteers early in 2015. He was born without a tail and the nerves that control voluntary urination/defecation. He would have had a poor quality of life and although a heart wrenching decision we opted to have him humanely euthanized. His buddies Sven and Ana were rescued by the same volunteer and joined Sparkle Cat Rescue to find forever homes.

We were born in the shelter on Friday, May 15, 2015, originally a litter of three but our sibling passed away on May 19 after Sparkle Cat Rescue took us in with our mama. We passed away a few days later, on May 25, 2015. We were growing strong and nursing well but our mama got sick with an upper respiratory infection and she wasn't tending to us as well as she normally would and despite foster mama's best efforts, we just were too weak to survive. We are buried under a shade tree at foster mom and dad's home.

ROCKI was adopted by Stephanie and Jim, co-founders of Sparkle Cat Rescue. He was originally rescued by Humane Society of Alamance County at the Burlington Animal Services and Stephanie and Jim fostered him through HSAC. When Sparkle Cat Rescue formed, it was requested that Rocki be transferred to SCR so we could see him through to adoption. We decided early in 2015 that we wanted him to stay with the only family he had known, who had nurtured him through early illness, and we also knew he was not your average healthy cat. Unfortunately Rocki had battled a lot in his early life and we put him to rest on June 18, 2015. It was believed he had dry FIP, which is incurable and a horrible disease. RIP sweet boy. We love you.
