Dear Friends and Supporters of Sparkle Cat Rescue, As we enter this holiday season we want to extend to you a personal thank you for the love and support you have shown for our mission. We appreciate everything you have done for us. The past two years since forming Sparkle Cat Rescue have been amazing and a lot of hard work! It has been a team effort that has been well worth it and we are as committed as ever to growing our rescue and doing even more for our community and our feline friends.
We need each and every one of you to remember us this holiday season and here’s why. Our mission, from the beginning, has been simple, to “rescue and place kittens and adult cats that have been abandoned, neglected or abused into foster homes, provide appropriate medical care, including spay/neuter, and find permanent homes for them through an adoption program.” That comes directly from the by-laws of our corporation. Also in our by-laws, it states that we will support trap/neuter/release programs and promote community education. Over the past two years we have made good on that commitment with an organization entirely staffed with volunteers who have dedicated their time, energy, creativity and skill to accomplish these goals. Most importantly, we have supporters who donate the resources necessary to make our goals a reality.
When Sparkle Cat decided to form in November 2014, we had $180.36 in our name and fifteen cats in our program. It was a humbling start, but that did not deter us from our mission.
Since then, through hard work and dedication to our mission, we have rescued 320 cats and adopted out 177. We have spayed/neutered over 340 cats in our community through our partnerships with AnimalKind and Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary, CatsFirst Spay Clinic, Planned Pethood, and participated in community education events with other organizations and on our own with our very successful Cat Chat workshop held at City Park in Burlington, NC.
We have grown to be the premier feline only rescue organization in our area. We have developed a network of dedicated volunteers, established partnerships with local veterinary practices to treat and heal our cats, partnered with national corporations to promote them, and collaborate with other rescue organizations to network them. We’ve expanded our network of foster homes from a few in the Burlington area to encompass homes across the foothills of North Carolina from Greensboro to Siler City.
In 2015, we spent over $35,000 on our Rescue and Adoption Program alone and will exceed that in 2016.
Vet care, food, litter and medicine comprises the bulk of our expenses. In fact, in 2015, 94 cents of every dollar donated to Sparkle Cat Rescue went directly to our programs. The other 6 cents allowed us to do things like have a mailbox to send donations to, print business cards and keep in compliance with the law.
Even with all those accomplishments, more needs to be done in our community and we cannot do it without your support. We wouldn’t ask for your support directly if we didn’t have a plan in place to use your donations wisely in a way that impacts our community positively.
Here are some highlights of what you, as a donor and supporter, should expect from Sparkle Cat Rescue as we continue our mission:
- Expanded foster home base to allow more cats to be rescued - Expanded TNR program to reduce the number of kittens born to feral cats in our community - Establishment of a medical assistance fund to assist people who may otherwise abandon a cat due to injury or medical need to the shelter. (Bogey’s Fund) - Establishment of a fund to support getting Sparkle Cat Rescue “A Place of our Own” We would love to have our own place and land to make our rescue dreams come true.
Please, think about putting Sparkle Cat Rescue on your Christmas list this holiday season.
If every one of our followers on social media would give a one-time donation of 5 dollars, we would be funded for 6 months, if it was 10 dollars, we would be funded for an entire year.
If they would make a monthly donation of the same amounts, we could do all the things we want to do and more. Please, think about us this holiday season. Your $5, $10, $25 or more donation, especially a monthly recurring one, means so much to the kitties in our community and ensures our success. We cannot do it without you. Thank you again for all your love and support. We know the kitties appreciate it.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors of Sparkle Cat Rescue, Inc.
