Sparkle Cat Rescue extends our love and prayers to Judy's family and friends. She was an avid supporter of Sparkle Cat Rescue and grandmother and mother to friends of ours. Her granddaughter Kristie messaged me and said: "She loved your passion for cats and admired everything you do for them. She was a cat lover to her core and even snuck a cat on a train as a young girl to bring it home." Judy, you were such a wonderful woman and you are so greatly missed. You were a true blessing on this Earth!

"She started her life as a feeral cat and ended it as a velcro cat. She was a gift to Sam and me. She couldn't wait for me to sit down so she could be on my lap. Her loss has left a hole in our hearts.

Nancy McInnis Baughman's family made a generous donation in her memory. Our hearts go out to her family and friends.

BURLINGTON NC– Nancy McInnes Baughman, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024 at Brookdale of Burlington while surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy was born in Greensburg, PA on June 29, 1936 to the late Harry Porter and Janet McInnes Porter. She attended West Liberty College in WV. Nancy was a gifted interior designer and retired from Frank Smith Design Consultants after several years.. She was a member of the Piedmont Herb Society and she enjoyed the ferns on her patio she planted yearly. She loved hand feeding her birds and squirrels. As a member of Fellowship Presbyterian Church Sage Group, she put her creative talents to work by decorating the tables for various events. She will be deeply missed by many.

In Loving Memory of Bella
Nature's First Green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
~From the Poetry of Robert Frost

Thank you to Bella's mom, Karen for your donation to Sparkle Cat Rescue in memory of your beloved companion of over 16 years. Bella's absence breaks her heart very day.

Catch was a stray rescued in Mebane, NC in November.  His rescuers took him to the vet and his blood work was not good.  They did all they could to save Catch's life and set up a fundraiser on Gofundme to help with vet care. They raised over $1800.00 and were able to get him all the medicines he needed and afford the vet care necessary.  Catch was showing great improvement with all the love and care he was receiving - the photo here is him after all the love and around the clock care.  Sadly, Catch lost ths battle in mid-December. He had a month of so much love - love he may have never felt in his life. His rescuers are so extremely heartbroken.  In honor of Catch, a donation was made to Sparkle Cat Rescue of $1,000 - a balance from the donations received to help with his vet care.  We will honor Catch's memory and use it for a future Sparkle Cat in need of care that is above the standard vet care - a homeless cat we rescue that may require eye surgery, an amputation or be gravely ill.  Catch will never be forgotten.

Our friend Tina set up a birthday fundraiser to donate to Sparkle Cat Rescue and pledged to match every donation made, in memory of her sweet Dexter who passed away recently. Her original fundraising goal was $300.00. That goal was quickly reached and kept growing. Then her husband Glenn also pledged to match donations. Their donations are matched by the employer. In the end, Tina raised $1,115.00 on Facebook with her birthday fundraiser AND that is quadrupled from Tina and Glenn matching, and employer matching!! Sparkle Cat Rescue will receive $5715.00 from this ONE birthday fundraiser! We are awestruck at the generosity of everyone who has donated and for Tina and Glenn matching the donations and the employer for matching donations! This money will help so many kitties in our program - future and present!

Tina and Glenn were so heartbroken when their sweet boy passed away. Tina wrote, "Our Dexter was dumped or just showed up at our barn - when we realized he was deaf we brought him home to our S Main Street house. I really DID try to “find him a home”, but like everyone said to me then “he already has a home”. He won us over and became my shadow, my snuggle buddy, Mommy’s boy. He was deaf, had a head tilt, had asthmatic issues occasionally, and became diabetic a year & a half ago. He was special, and LOUD, and was great at finding new nooks and crannies to curl up and sleep and scare me because I couldn’t find him. I would stomp around the house and he would eventually rouse and come walking out. If I was in my recliner he was in it with me. If I wasn’t in my recliner, he was often in it, and basically claimed it as his own “catnapper”. He loved my screened porch as much as I did and loved sleeping out there in the sun. I miss him and his “presence” so so much."

Losing Dexter was such a huge loss for Tina and Glenn. Knowing how many kitties will be helped by the money Tina raised is helping their hearts heal. We are so grateful to both of them for their years of friendship and support. THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Thank you to Jo for sending in a generous donation in honor of her niece, Leslie.

Leslie is also a foster mom for Sparkle Cat Rescue and has volunteered with us since 2014. I've personally known her since 2013. She has fostered countless cats and kittens for us.
Leslie works a full-time job, has a family of three (soon to be four), manages a feral colony before and after work, traps and gets cats fixed when she sees cats in need and she is just an amazing woman. We are blessed to have her as a friend and volunteer. She has the kindest heart and cares so deeply for homeless cats. The cats in our community are so lucky to have someone like her watching out for them.

Frank passed away in his sleep early in the morning on November 6, 2017. He  was only a year and a half old.  We can tell he was a very special boy and was so lucky to have Ethan as his daddy. Ethan adopted Frank from an animal shelter in Bangor, Maine where he is going to school and working. Frank was an amazing cat with such an outgoing personality. He was such good company for his daddy. The vet said it was likely a heart defect since he really did not exhibit any symptoms. Grandmom Barbara told us "Frank would hate for Ethan to leave and always be at the bottom step waiting for him when he got home."
